Comics and Television: Fall 2014-2015 Season

The upcoming 2014-2015 Fall TV Season is embracing the Comic Book World! With record breaking movies, TV shows with a cult following, and a pop culture-centric San Diego ComiCon, television networks are looking to comics for material.

Unfortunately, we are in a time that lacks creativity and almost all movies/tv are adaptations, remakes, sequels, etc…new stories are not existing on screen. Thankfully, comics and literature are still avenues for new content. DC has had a consistent presence in television for years, but Marvel is rushing to join the TV realm; it helps now that Disney owns Marvel and Disney owns the ABC network. There is plenty of returning content and new shows for a fanboy to check out and hopefully enjoy/dissect mythology.

I am excited about some new shows and skeptical of others. Some shows have lost a lot of momentum, and others have increased publicity over the summer months. Most of the new shows have stellar casts and producers with proven track records of quality television. There are a few returning shows that I hope return strong and not fall into a slump season—every show has 1 or 2 bad seasons in its run, a lull is inevitable. Both network and cable channels are on the comics forefront. I wanted to rundown the new and returning shows to hype my favorite time of the year: Fall TV Premieres.
