Before there was Jim Lee, there was Neal Adams. This artist’s style was REVOLUTIONARY when he debuted. One of comics true luminaries of the comic book art form by bringing a powerful and unique realism to the characters that had previously been barrel chested and blocky.
He came to prominence 1st with the debut of DC Comics war books and the comic book, DEADMAN. To this day, Adams is one of the my greatest inspirations–both the things I’ve heard about him as a principled man and creator and likewise, as the artist that delivered some of the biggest books of my youth (some as reprints)…
- Batman (Ra’s A Ghul’s intros)
- X-men (Havok’s costume, Sauron, Master Mold debut)
- Green Arrow (Speedy as a drug)
- Superman (where he fought against Muhammad Ali)
- and many more.
