It’s APRIL and while COVID-19 is still causing chaos, we are committed as ever to produce the WORLD’S BEST and MOST DIVERSE MANGA CONTENT.
Our 5th Annual MARCH ART MADNESS event began late this year due to the virus but we’ve still presented 64 of the best fan artists from Italy, France, Nigeria, S. Africa, Columbia and over 20 countries in our MANO-A-MANO slugfest! This year’s TOURNAMENT is sponsored by CLIP STUDIO PAINT and SPECTRUM NOIR.
The artwork this year has been PHENOMENAL and we’re confident MANY FUTURE SATURDAY AM stars have been profiled in this year’s tournament already! Round 4 recently concluded with 7 artists producing artwork inspired by indie toy company, PANDA MONY TOYS, and other toys ranging from Transformers to TMNT.
The round was a significant battle as the artists had to learn about the ALTER NATION (Panda Mony’s characters) heroes and villains and then determine just WHO they would face and how to create the most compelling fanart. And with the ALTER NATION cast including half man, half beast hybrids – research was needed from all of the participants. As always, some of the BEST WORK included NARRATIVE STRUCTURE, COMPOSITION, CHARACTER DESIGN, and COLOR USE.
The round was decided early for the top three fan vote winners as EFFESSART, CALLMENAKA, and OAKNOATS were clear favorites. ARTISTALYWAY came lower however and was only 8 points over the nearest competitor (MANOU.AZUMI) and 10 points from the next artist (KAMO_988). Unfortunately, Kamo lost 10 points from late submission and with (IMPY0J) having backed out (sadly, depriving the event on her beautiful art and our 1st potential female winner. The Judges Votes of Whyt Manga, Jeyodin, Morganne Walker, Founder – Frederick L. Jones and Panda Mony Toys founder, Ryan Magnon made the difference and cemented Artistalyway into the FINAL FOUR.
