Avatar: The Last Airbender Hits Webtoon

With the recent release of the Netflix adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” the buzz around the series has reached new heights. It comes as no surprise that Webtoon has announced a webcomic feature for the series on its app.

This exclusive adaptation focuses on “The Promise,” a graphic novel written by Gene Yang and illustrated by Studio Gurihiru. Originally published by Dark Horse Comics in 2012, it continues the story from where the beloved animated series left off.

As the gang recuperates from their trials and starts to savor the peace following the epic conclusion of the 100-year war, Aang and the newly appointed Firelord Zuko realize that the world’s newfound tranquility may be short-lived. Despite the defeat of the Fire Lord Ozai, tension simmers between the Fire Nation colonies and the Earth Kingdom. Through a blend of diplomacy and decisive action, they must navigate the aftermath and mend the scars of the past.

The series has been reimagined and reformatted for an immersive webcomic experience, designed to be read in a vertical format. This presents an excellent opportunity for both new and long-time fans to delve back into the rich universe of “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

New episodes are set to premiere every Saturday on the Webtoon app. You can catch the first three episodes HERE.
