MARCH ART MADNESS IS HARD!
It’s the World’s TOUGHEST ART TOURNAMENT, after all!
Saturday AM, the diverse manga brand, celebrates our SIXTH YEAR of our MARCH ART MADNESS event with some of the most talented young artists that we have ever had. From countries ranging from GHANA to PERU, IRELAND to SOUTH AFRICA, NEW ZEALAND to the USA and more — MARCH ART MADNESS 2021 has been AWESOME and MADDENING thanks to gorgeous new artwork and the DIFFICULTY of CHOOSING A WINNER!
One of the things that has helped the tournament hit new heights has been the phenomenal partnerships we’ve enjoyed this year with MAJOR BRANDS such as WACOM, CLIP STUDIO PAINT, and SPECTRUM NOIR.
More importantly, NEW BRANDS such as JUST SKETCH ME have delivered support with their EXCITING NEW PRODUCTS.
One of the HARDEST things to do is DRAW DYNAMIC CHARACTERS. Getting the right anatomy, perspective, and memorable pose is difficult for even the most talented artist. Oftentimes, artists are left to look for inspiration from existing comics, or using action figures, or features to craft pose models for use. JUST SKETCH ME has worked with Saturday AM for several months and this SOUTH AFRICAN company has impressed us with its’ 3D CHARACTER POSE TOOL SOFTWARE. It’s an AFFORDABLE, ROBUST, and EASY TO USE software.
In ROUND 2, the participating ARTISTS could get BONUS POINTS by USING THE TOOL to CREATE STRONGER CHARACTER ART. SEVERAL ARTISTS TOOK UP THIS OPPORTUNITY and we decided to ASK THEM what they made of this new toolset.

JUST SKETCH ME – Q & A
Saturday AM: The Just Sketch Me software tool allows artists to not only create unique poses, but turn their model a full 360° in any direction and zoom in and out. Would you say this is more useful than spending time trying to find the right photo reference on the internet?
@Oblivious334 from the United States : Normally when drawing, I try to draft out poses from my imagination, then transition to finding poses if I can’t come up with anything. Using Just Sketch Me really condensed that process and made my work flow more efficient. Not only that, I can get multiple compositions from a single pose because of the 360° feature. The app really helped with exploring possible ideas for my illustration.
Saturday AM: Was this your first time using a posing tool for your drawing? How was your experience?
@jacobsm_art from Peru : No, this was maybe my 3rd time using it. The first time that I used Just Sketch Me, I was a bit confused on how to tweak the body parts to get the pose that I wanted. But after the second time, I figured it out and it was super helpful.
Saturday AM: What features did you feel were the most useful when you used the Just Sketch Me program to create your artwork?
@Miserablemonk from South Africa: The camera tool was the most useful to me. I usually struggle to think about dynamic camera angles so it was fun getting to play around with that.
Saturday AM: Do you believe the Just Sketch Me program is more useful to create with compared to other posing tools such as physical mannequin dolls?
@Ofodude from the United States: Absolutely, it’s way more accessible. Moving the limbs took a bit of negotiating, but it doesn’t take long to master.
Saturday AM: Did the 3D Models and their poseable body parts help you create accurate poses?
@dkmbstudio from the Philippines: Personally, taking pictures of myself to use as a reference is a hassle. So that’s where the strength of the 3D models really came in.
So, curious about trying out the software for yourself?
